Independent service: we connect you with independent fire risk assessors. Not affiliated with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service or any council. Not legal advice.

About Fire Risk Essex

Fire Risk Essex is an independent introduction service. We connect people who need a fire risk assessment with independent assessors who work in Essex. We do not carry out assessments ourselves, and we are not affiliated with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, any council or the Home Office.

How this site works

Fire Risk Essex is an independent introduction service. You describe your premises. We'll review your request and reply within 2 working days about next steps. If you agree, we may pass your details on to independent assessors working in the area you name, and whether to go ahead is entirely your decision.

Assessors may pay Fire Risk Essex a fee for an introduction. We do not carry out fire risk assessments ourselves.

Who the assessors are

Each assessor runs their own business; none works for this site or trades under its name. We neither inspect assessors' work nor vouch for anyone's qualifications, so put your questions about training, experience, insurance and competence to them directly before you commit to anything.

The checks suggested in the sector guide are set out in our section on what to check before you appoint an assessor.

Not connected with the fire service or councils

Fire Risk Essex is not Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, a council or the Home Office, and does not act for any of them. Their names appear on this site only as the source of data or as the enforcing authority. The legal duty stands whether or not you ever use this site.

How we collect and label our data

Each figure here is taken from a public source that we name, and the date we gathered it appears alongside. Enforcement and audit data is shown only as aggregated counts by district or premises type, and no business, premises or person is named. Where we could not obtain a figure, we say so.

Sources include each council's own HMO register, the NFCC Enforcement Register, Home Office fire statistics (table FIRE1202), ONS business counts via Nomis, and prices published by assessors, shown without firm names. We review the figures quarterly.
